Fueling Change: Believe in Me’s Support of Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Innovative Program

This year, we’re taking a significant step towards making a lasting impact on marginalized youth. We’ve awarded $2,500 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Inland Northwest, solidifying our dedication to providing children with chances to build self-confidence and achieve success. The grant specifically supports Big Brothers Big Sisters’ innovative Activity Boxes Program, offering carefully curated thematic boxes that provide mentorship pairs with diverse and engaging activities, ranging from cultural explorations to hands-on STEM experiences. This initiative reflects our commitment to financial support and fostering meaningful and enriching experiences for the youth we aim to empower.

This program provides quarterly activity options for matches: Big/Mentor and Little/Youth pairs. These carefully curated activity boxes revolve around various themes: Culture, Movement, Visual Arts, Baking, Creativity, and STEM.

Here is a glimpse into the captivating contents of these kits, each thoughtfully curated to offer diverse and engaging experiences:

Culture Kit: Includes tickets to attractions like MAC, gondola rides, carousel visits, and a downtown scavenger hunt.

Visual Arts Kit: Features movie tickets, children’s theater passes, and a gift certificate for creative activities like pottery.

Baking Kit: This kit contains ingredients for baking cookies and cakes and a gift certificate to Hello Sugar.

STEM Kit: Offers rocket kits, Lego certificates, and supplies for tie-dye or alcohol paint.

Innovation and Impact:

The Activity Boxes Program addresses the need for planned access to events and activities, ensuring matches can make the most of available resources. This strategic approach aims to result in greater utilization of the opportunities presented.

Number of Youth Supported

Believe in Me’s grant is set to positively impact 50 youths through the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Inland Northwest’s Activity Boxes Program, contributing to the organization’s overarching goal of creating and supporting mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.

“This grant enriches our one-to-one mentoring relationships by providing unique and interactive activities for matches to share together. Because of this grant, many of the children we serve will gain new experiences they might not otherwise access. And our mentors will certainly appreciate having these new and really cool activities pre-packaged and ready to go for them! I would not be surprised if several matches discover their new favorite activity or two through our new Activity Box Program."
