The Believe in Me David VonBrethorst Memorial Charity Golf Tournament, held on June 9, 2023, at the renowned Circling Raven Golf Club in Worley, ID, was an event to remember. With excellent golf, charitable spirit, and a touch of mischief, the tournament brought together 256 golfers, over 50 volunteers, and the Believe in Me team to remember a remarkable man and support a noble cause.

Nestled amidst 620 acres of wetlands, woodlands, and Palouse grasses, Circling Raven Golf Club lived up to its reputation as the #1 Public Course in Idaho. Voted North Idaho’s Best Course and listed among Golf Digest’s Top 100 Courses, it provided a stunning backdrop for the tournament. State-of-the-art golf carts with GPS guided players through this remarkable course, ensuring they were always on the right path.

Unleashing Fun and Mischief at the Believe in Me Tournament

The tournament adopted a unique twist, allowing participants to cheat for charity. Golfers could purchase string, mulligans, grenade balls, red tee advantages, lightning, and sunshine to improve their scores. With ad hoc and pre-packaged cheats available at different prices, everyone was encouraged to enjoy the fun and make their mark on the leaderboard.

Rain Didn’t Dampen Spirits: Players Braved Rain Showers for the Believe in Me Tournament

The weather added an unpredictable element to the tournament, with intermittent rain showers throughout the day. Although the PM round was forced to pause after ten holes, the participants’ spirits remained high. Safety First was the day’s motto, reminding players to prioritize their well-being and be mindful of inclement weather, including rain, lightning, and thunder. The scramble format added an element of teamwork, strategy, and plenty of laughter. Divots were repaired, bunkers were raked, and a good pace of play was maintained to ensure an enjoyable experience for all.

Amy Eneroth began her stellar performance by dominating the ladies’ longest drive contest on hole #5.

Troy Nealey displayed exceptional accuracy on hole #7, earning the title in the men’s closest-to-the-pin contest.

On hole #16, Amy Eneroth continued to showcase her precision and claimed victory in the ladies’ closest-to-the-pin contest.

Travis Key unleashed a powerful drive on hole #17, securing the top spot in the men’s longest drive contest.

PM Round Winners:

Karen Farrell exhibited great power and control, winning the ladies’ longest drive contest on hole #5.

John Durgan showcased his accuracy on hole #7, securing the top spot in the men’s closest-to-the-pin contest.

Jeannie Kohn demonstrated her skill on hole #16, winning the ladies’ closest-to-the-pin contest.

Robbie Minnitti unleashed a massive drive on hole #17, claiming victory in the men’s longest drive contest.

In the AM round, Alex Hill, Chris Anderson, Darren Case, and Tony Poston emerged victorious, securing first place. Dakota Wild, Steve Wild, Greg Farmanian, and Mike Farmanian claimed second place, while Dave Bozett, Dennis Patchin, Doug Wellsandt, and Paul Sorensen took home third place. The PM round saw Tom Krustangel, Ryan Krustangel, Jon Rapose, and Tim Buelow clinch first place. Patrick Afif, Brad Boswell, Kelly Rease, and Scott Rudy secured second place, while Guy Devers and his team claimed third place.

The tournament concluded with a catered lunch/dinner and an awards ceremony to recognize the achievements of the participants.
