Believe in Me is an organization that supports students pursuing secondary education, including student-athletes. As part of our mission, we contribute to the athletic funds of Washington schools, to help support the education of these athletes. In 2022, we purchased season tickets to the Washington State University (WSU) football home games, and we hosted tailgates to share our mission at each of these games.
The Importance of Supporting Student-Athletes: Believe in Me’s Mission
Our CEO, Julie Wukelic, hosted the tailgating events. They were open to current board members, donors, volunteers, and anyone interested in our mission to support marginalized kids. These events provided an opportunity for us to share our message with others while also supporting the student-athletes at this renowned school. We believe that supporting the education of these athletes is critical, as it can help to open doors and provide opportunities for them in the future.
2022 WSU Football Season: Record and Highlights
The WSU football team played seven home games during the 2022 season. These games were held on Sep 3, Sept 17, Sep 24, Oct 1, Oct 27, Nov 12, and Nov 26 in Pullman, WA. The team’s record for the 2022 season was 7-6. While the team did not have a perfect season, they played with heart and determination, and their efforts were appreciated by all who attended the games.
Game Day Fun: Believe in Me Hosts Tailgates at WSU Football Home Games
We connected with many individuals interested in learning more about our organization and mission during the tailgating events. We shared stories of our work’s impact on marginalized kids’ lives and received several donations to support our cause. These donations will go a long way towards helping us to continue to support these students as they pursue their dreams.
The Apple Cup: Despite the Loss, the Tailgate Was a Great Success
One of the highlights of the 2022 season was the Apple Cup, which was hosted at GESA Stadium in Pullman, WA. The Apple Cup is a historic rivalry game between WSU and the University of Washington (UW), and it is one of the most highly anticipated games of the year. Although the WSU team fought hard, UW ultimately came out on top. Despite the loss, the tailgating event was still a great success, as it allowed us to connect with many new supporters and donors.
Making Connections and Raising Funds: Believe in Me’s Tailgating Events
Overall, the 2022 WSU football season was an excellent success for Believe in Me. We supported student-athlete education, connected with new supporters, and raised funds to help marginalized kids. We are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this community, and we look forward to continuing our work. Our efforts will inspire others to get involved and support the education of these talented and hardworking students. Go Cougs.
