Responsibilities
- Adapt approved event facts into web, email, social, print, and volunteer communications
- Maintain a simple content calendar and flag unverified dates, prices, benefits, or claims
- Capture or organize consent-aware photography and short-form video when assigned
- Prepare accessible captions, alt text, file names, and media descriptions
- Support website updates, sponsor recognition, event-day updates, and post-event recaps without publishing before approval
Schedule and shifts
Six to eight weeks before each event through one week after it. Expected commitment: 2–4 hours per week plus a 4–8 hour event-day or packing-day media shift when assigned. Final shifts, meetings, and check-in instructions will be confirmed before placement.
CougsFirst! schedule: Seattle Show & Career Expo: Friday, May 29, 2026 at the 505 Building in Pioneer Square; public program 2:00–7:00 p.m. and show floor 4:00–7:00 p.m. Spokane: annual Spokane show; the 2026 date, venue, and Believe in Me volunteer call time are TBD. Final volunteer shifts will be confirmed before placement.
What a typical assignment looks like
A typical assignment begins with an approved fact sheet, shot list, consent guidance, and content deadline. Volunteers may capture event preparation and guest-facing activity, record accurate names and context, write accessible captions and alt text, organize files, and submit drafts through the approval workflow. Nothing is published without authorization.
Event apparel
You’ll receive clear, event-specific guidance before each assignment so guests can recognize you and you can work comfortably. We’ll confirm any event apparel or seasonal accessories, along with practical footwear, layering, and weather recommendations.
Required qualifications
- Strong writing or visual communication skills and careful fact checking
- Commitment to consent, dignity, accessibility, and youth privacy
- Ability to meet deadlines and use Believe in Me brand guidance
Preferred experience
- Nonprofit marketing, social media, photography, videography, graphic design, WordPress, or SEO experience
- Familiarity with Pacific Northwest community audiences
Technology and equipment
Google Workspace and one or more approved tools such as Canva, WordPress, a social scheduler, or photo/video editing software. A capable phone or camera is helpful for media shifts.
Physical and accessibility considerations
Remote work is available. On-site media assignments may require walking outdoors and carrying personally owned equipment.
