Responsibilities

• Attend the course and rules briefing and report to the assigned hole or operations station
• Welcome golfers, explain only approved contest rules, and record results accurately
• Monitor supplies, pace-of-play concerns, and safety issues and contact course staff when needed
• Collect scorecards or digital results without independently resolving disputes
• Support result verification, prize organization, awards staging, and end-of-day station recovery

Schedule and shifts

Orientation during the week before the tournament plus event day. Expected commitment: 1–2 hours of preparation plus one 7–10 hour event-day shift. Final shifts, meetings, and check-in instructions will be confirmed before placement.

What a typical assignment looks like

Volunteers receive a station assignment and briefing before golfers arrive. Duties may include monitoring a contest or tee area, explaining approved rules, tracking results, collecting score information, replenishing supplies, helping with golfer flow, and delivering verified materials to the awards team. Rule disputes, prizes, and safety concerns go directly to the event lead.

Event apparel

You’ll be easy for guests to recognize as part of the volunteer team. Before your shift, we’ll share the approved event look, any pickup or sizing details that apply, and practical guidance for comfortable footwear, layers, and weather.

Required qualifications

• Comfort working outdoors for an extended shift and following golf-course rules
• Accurate recordkeeping, good judgment, and clear communication
• Available for the full event-day assignment

Preferred experience

• Golf knowledge, tournament operations, scorekeeping, hospitality, or sports-event experience
• Experience using a golf scoring application or two-way radio

Technology and equipment

Charged mobile phone; radios, clipboards, or approved scoring tools will be assigned as available.

Physical and accessibility considerations

Outdoor role with sun, heat, wind, uneven ground, and extended standing or sitting. Some stations can be seated; disclose mobility needs during placement.

Training and support

Tournament format, contest rules, course map, radio or phone protocol, weather and emergency plan, and awards handoff.
