Board Treasurer Responsibilities
- Is a member of the Believe in Me Board of Directors.
- Ensure that Believe in Me functions effectively, interacts with management optimally, and fulfills all of its duties in accordance with Believe in Me’s Bylaws, Articles of Incorporation, Code of Conduct, Conflict of Interest, and the Foundation’s Policies and Procedures.
- Chair of the Finance Committee.
- Oversee the care and custody of the assets and financial reporting system of the foundation and shall have and exercise, under the supervision of the Board of Directors, all the powers, duties, and common responsibilities to this office according to Board policy and state law.
- Assures that the Foundation’s financial reporting systems are in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP),
- Present, with the Chief Executive Officer, a monthly financial status report that includes a monthly profit and loss statement, balance sheet, and a statement of cash flows to the Board.
- Assure that the financials are audited by a qualified accounting firm approved by the Board and assure that the financial reporting systems are in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley.
- Oversee the preparation of the Foundation’s annual audit of the financial statements and the preparation of the annual filling of the 990 tax return.
- Participates fully in the Believe in Me Board of Director’s role in strategic planning.
- Plays a leading role in fundraising activities, providing guidance to the Chief Executive Officer and Development Director as needed on donor acknowledgement to assure compliance with IRS Charitable Contributions guidelines.
- Serve as alternate spokesperson for Believe in Me.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Board.
